Day-by-day itinerary

1Day 1 — Arrival & Baščaršija

The class lands in Sarajevo, settles into the hotel, and heads out for a first evening in the old town.

  • Private group transfer from Sarajevo International Airport to your hotel
  • Guided orientation walk through Baščaršija — the Sebilj fountain and the coppersmiths' lane
  • Introduction talk: where East meets West, and why Sarajevo is called the Jerusalem of Europe
  • Welcome group dinner of Bosnian favourites

Teachers travel completely free — their full land package is covered across the group, never charged to the school.

2Day 2 — Sarajevo — A Living History Lesson

A full day in the city where the First World War began, the 1984 Winter Olympics were held, and a modern siege was survived.

  • Guided old-town tour: the Latin Bridge, the Gazi Husrev-bey complex and the bezistan bazaars
  • Tunnel of Hope museum — the story of the siege, told with age-appropriate care (entry included)
  • Vrelo Bosne: the spring of the River Bosna beneath Mount Igman (entry included)
  • Trebević cable car for the panoramic geography lesson over the valley (tickets included)

A teacher briefing pack with learning objectives for each stop is provided before you travel.

3Day 3 — Konjic, Jablanica & Mostar

The signature one-day Mostar tour — Konjic and the Jablanica lake road are part of it by default.

  • Konjic: the 17th-century Ottoman stone bridge over the emerald Neretva
  • Boat ride on Jablanica Lake between the mountains (included)
  • Mostar: Stari Most, the old bazaar and the panoramic viewpoint (entry included)
  • On-site talk: the bridge destroyed in 1993 and rebuilt stone by stone — a lesson in reconciliation

Regular breaks on the drive south, with supervision-friendly stops planned in advance.

4Day 4 — Blagaj & the Buna Spring

A gentler day of geography and heritage — the 600-year-old dervish lodge at the source of the Buna river.

  • Blagaj: the karst spring where the Buna emerges from the cliff — one of Europe's most powerful springs
  • The Ottoman tekke beside the water, and the story of life in the village across six centuries
  • Group lunch by the Buna river at a riverside restaurant
  • Free afternoon in the village, then the unhurried drive back to Sarajevo

5Day 5 — Travnik — Town of Viziers

Into central Bosnia to the Ottoman capital of viziers, its hilltop fortress and Nobel-prize heritage.

  • Travnik: the medieval fortress above the town, with the valley laid out like a map below
  • The birthplace of Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić — a literature stop for the classroom
  • Travnik ćevapi lunch — the town is famous across Bosnia for it
  • Farewell group dinner back in Sarajevo, with certificates and a quiz night for the students

6Day 6 — Last Morning & Departure

A slow breakfast, one last walk through the old town, and a smooth transfer home.

  • Free morning for last-minute souvenirs and one more Bosnian coffee for the teachers
  • Private group transfer to Sarajevo International Airport, timed to your flight
